AVISO and The Automation Partnership sign distribution agreement
AVISO GmbH, a major manufacturer of automation for the stem cell market today announced it has entered into a distribution agreement with The Automation Partnership (TAP), a world leading supplier of innovative automation for life science applications, based near Cambridge, UK. Under the terms of the agreement, TAP will market and support CellCelector™, AVISO’s unique automated stem cell picker within the USA and Canada. The patented CellCelector allows automated selection and harvesting of a variety of stem cell types. This unique system offers researchers an essential automation tool for the fast-growing stem cell market and is already in use in North America at the prestigious MIT in Boston, Massachusetts.
Using CellCelector’s non-invasive technology to automate stem cell picking not only reduces the time and costs associated with this largely manual process but also standardises cell quality. An additional benefit of using CellCelector is that cell selection and harvesting are fully documented by creation of images, before and after picking, allowing users to have an invaluable reference for their research.
David Newble, TAP’s CEO Designate explains: “TAP has a wide network of customers using our automated cell culture systems in major US pharma and biotech companies. Many of these researchers have requested an automated stem cell picker, so we are delighted to be partnering with AVISO be able to offer them access to the CellCelector, which is the premier technology available in this field.”
Reinhard Herrmann, CEO of the AVISO-Group concludes: “Designing and developing innovative systems for specific life science applications is our core competence. Combining this expertise with TAP’s formidable position in the North American automated cell culture market will provide a strategic approach to introducing AVISO’s products and will we believe, rapidly result in the installation of the CellCelector in a number of key US stem cell facilities throughout 2009.”
