The Automation Partnership Celebrates 20 Years of Automated Cell Culture With a Full Programme of Events at ISSCR 2009
The Automation Partnership (TAP), a world leading supplier of innovative automation for life science applications today announced it will be continuing its celebration of 20 years of automated cell culture with a programme of events at the ISSCR Conference in Barcelona, Spain.
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the installation of TAP’s Cellmate, the world’s first automated cell culture system, TAP is hosting a drinks reception on Stand 128-132, from 5.00 - 6.00 pm, on Friday 10th July. At the reception, TAP’s senior staff will be discussing TAP’s future direction for automated cell culture and processing with demonstrations of their new CompacT CellBase™ system for culturing stem cells in T-flasks in a GMP environment, as well as CellCelector™, the first commercial automated stem cell picker.
TAP will also be showcasing its latest developments at a tutorial presented by Dr Rosemary Drake, Chief Scientific Officer, at TAP on Thursday 9th July. Her talk is entitled "New Automated Tools and Equipment for Stem Cell Culture and Scale-up" discusses how TAP's robotic technology overcomes many scale-up issues, whilst enabling human progenitor and embryonic stem cell lines to be maintained reproducibly with minimal operator intervention.
In support of the 20 years of automated cell culture anniversary, TAP has also launched a microsite, www.automationpartnership.com/20years, where editors and scientists can hear a fascinating series of podcasts detailing the history and future direction of regenerative medicine from leading experts in this field. The year-long initiative begins with an interview with University College London’s Professor Chris Mason, who shares his insights into the challenges faced by researchers in regenerative medicine over the past 20 years.
David Newble, TAP’s new CEO stated: "This year is TAP’s 20th year of automated cell culture and is the perfect opportunity to mark our longstanding commitment to making a difference in this market. We look forward to welcoming visitors to Stand 128-132 to discover how we have led the field of automated cell culture and how we intend to continue supplying systems which will have a strategic impact on cell processing in research and clinical development for the next 20 years.”
