The UK Biobank presents at LRIG event on Successful Models for Automated Biorepositories

The Automation Partnership (TAP) is pleased to announce it will be exhibiting at the forthcoming LRIG event on automated biorepositories.

The event includes two presentations from the UK Biobank - Tim Peakman, Executive Director, and Paul Downey, Director of Operations.

The UK Biobank is using TAP’s Polar ULT store with capacity to hold 10 million individual sample tubes at -80°C to support research programmes for a projected 20+ year time frame.

Polar's unique design includes a patented storage compartment design allowing unlimited robotic access whilst maintaining the required sample storage conditions. Other features include rapid delivery of incoming samples to secure refrigerated storage, with vessel identities confirmed automatically on entry. Requested specimens are picked and collated entirely within the refrigerated store enclosure, with the only requested items presented for collection by an operator.
